  • Help and advice your child to know when to ask for help and where to get it: there's a lot to get used to when your child enters university or college, and no-one finds it all easy. One of your most important responsibilities as apparent is to help your child to recognize when they need help and to know where to get it. You can advise them to talk to their lecture, a student adviser or a career counselor.
  • Help your child Know how to manage their own time: advise them to oorganize a timetable or schedule: their schedule should not just be about academic work, they must also include time for personal activities and interests, this will help them track their movement, like attending classes, social activities and this will also help avoid procrastinating.
  • Help your child perfect their Study Techniques: Ideally you will want to help your child find a specific system that works for them, but develop an approach that leads to the establishment of a routine. Help your child, advise them to make it a rule to frequently visit the campus libraries, tutoring and writing centers, computer labs and career centers for free, valuable information.
  • Advice your child to socialize or make friends and be careful in doing so. One of the best ways to help and make sure your child succeed in the higher education field is to help them through guidance and advise make friends with a variety of people preferably people that they study the same course with. Making a strong social network in tertiary is also linked to better work performance later in life in terms of networking.
